SPRINGFIELD \emdash The funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, June 18, at Springfield Free Methodist Church for Elias "Eli" Dutton Jr. of Springfield, who died June 13 of age-related causes. He was 91. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday at the church.
He was born Sept. 10, 1917, in Lawrence County, Kentucky to Elias Dutton Sr. and Elizabeth Van Hoose Dutton. He married Alyce Pearl Perkins on Aug. 25, 1942, in Seattle.
He attended school in Kentucky. He served in the military in World War II in field artillery and as a signal corpsman and aircraft warning operator. He worked in the lumber industry for Weyerhaeuser for 17 years.
Survivors include his wife; three sons, Gary of Canby, David of Eugene and Keivan of Creswell; a daughter, Kathleen Dutton of Eugene; a sister, Beatrice Roberts of London, Ohio; 14 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren. Three sons, Howard, Dale and Rodney, died previously.
